Malati is correct that the SBh-MBh spellings differ.
SBh: Pari-IkSit [from .IkS – to look] -> ParIkSit = ‘looking
around/searching.’   MBh: Pari-kSit [from .kSi – to dwell etc]. Thus Pari-kShit
means “to dwell around” or “to spread around,”, i.e. to spread/extend [the
dynasty].
