How do we understand the Madhva position that Putatna was actually two demoness Urvashi and Tataka
As I’m born in a Madhva family, I had an opportunity to hear a lecture from a Madhva Sampradaya sannyasi many years ago (after asking whether to hear from other sampradayas from a Radha Gopinath temple brahmacari, he said yes) that “when Krishna killed Putana, there were two souls in her: Urvashi and Tataka (demoness). Although Bhagavatam says Putana got liberation, it was Urvashi who got liberation and Tataka was sent to tamas (darkness). We should not misunderstand Bhagavatam. These incidents are for “asura-jana-mohana” (to delude demoniac persons). (It is in Kannada)”
But Prabhupada says Putana was liberated, and got a place of a mother. He makes no mention of these details. I was confused, but by consolation of another brahmacari my confusion was somehow reduced but not entirely removed. But I would still like to know, why such philosophical differences are there between Sampradayas.
Kindly help me!
