If genes dont determine our behavior then why are some features of our behavior similar to our parents?

When you mentioned about reincarnation and genes going hand in hand , I agree with the physical appearance being the same but what perplexed me was that dont genes also determine the behavioural aspect  of a person. This is because I sometimes have similiar behavioural patterns to my parents like the way I organise certain things , scientifically speaking wouldnt that also not be genes?
