We devotees are ready to hurt our loved ones for the sake of Krishna and religious zealots are ready to kill others to please their God. What is the difference?

I have wondered (and marveled) about this myself. I have not seen or met Krsna directly. Yet I am so much in love with his words and so influenced by the teachings of his devotees that I am ready to put close family members into anguish- people I am supposed to be loving. I don’t really know if I am a soul- I haven’t realized myself- the Bhagavatam clearly says I am and I accept it. The only thing I know for sure is death will come, and with it relationships will die.

Maybe it is that I love the devotees, and I cannot give them up- but that is also a marvel, as there are devotees I haven’t met ever, that shape major decisions in my life. Ultimately I seem to have a strength of purpose that I cannot explain- I just like the philosophy of BG and SB very much.

Are there parallels between religious zealots who would harm others for pleasing their god and me?
